Biography of Prof A. A. Fatufe

Professor Andrew Adegboyega FATUFE obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1995 and 1998, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree (Animal Nutrition) from Martin-Luther University, Halle, Germany in 2004. He joined the services of the Department of Animal Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University in March 2006 as Lecturer I.

He was promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer on 1st October 2009, Reader with effect from 1st October, 2012 and the grade of Professor on 1st October, 2016.  Prof Fatufe, a Registered Animal Scientist (RAS), is a member of the Nigerian Society of Animal Production, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Animal Science and World Poultry Science (Nigeria Branch). Prof Fatufe is a recipient of some scholarships, fellowships and grants. Prof Fatufe was awarded the German Academic Exchange Scholarship (DAAD Doctoral Scholarship) from 2001 to 2004.

He was also awarded DAAD Short Term Postdoctoral Fellowship (Re-invitation programme), Germany, 2009 and Chinese Academy of Sciences/Academy of Science in the Developing World – TWAS (CAS-TWAS) One Year Postdoctoral Fellowship, China from 2010 to 2011. In terms of research grant, he was a recipient of World University Service, Deutsches Komitee e.V, Equipment Grant (Equipment: UV Visible Spectrophotometer, Laboratory Mortar Grinder ‘Pulverisette 2’, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Laser Printer, Scanner) in 2007 and China-Africa Science and Technology Partnership Program (CASTEP) Equipment: Kjeltec Distillation Unit, Infrared Graphite Digestion Instrument, Fibretec, Soxtec Auto Fat Extraction and Freeze Dryer) in 2011. Currently, Prof Fatufe is a co-investigator in an ongoing Institution Based Research Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) on “Recycling environmental wastes into feedlot beef cattle production” awarded in 2019.

Prof Fatufe was the Acting Head, Department of Animal Sciences from 2016 to 2019 and also the Acting Head, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching and Research Farm from 2019 to 2022.
