Dr Olugbenga Orisasona

Dr Olugbenga Orisasona obtained his MSc (Fisheries Management) and PhD (Fish Nutrition and Aquaculture) in 2006 and 2014 respectively from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He had earlier obtained a B. Agric. Tech (Fisheries and Wildlife) from the Federal University of Technology Akure, in 1995. Dr Orisasona has served as Fisheries Officer in various establishments with over ten years’ experience in commercial aquaculture. Dr Orisasona lectured in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Management, Osun State University in 2016.

He joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University as a Lecturer and Researcher in January, 2017, where he has been active in his academic and supportive duties. He was awarded the Netherland Fellowship Programme Awards in Resilient Fisheries Governance in 1999 and Rural Entrepreneurship in 2022. Dr Orisasona is a co-researcher in a TETFUND NRF grant in 2020. He is a member of several professional bodies which include the Association of Nigerian Fisheries Scientists and Nigeria Society for Animal Production.

His research interests are in fish nutrition and recruitment of species for aquaculture, and some of his works have been published in reputable journals and conference proceedings. Dr Orisasona teaches Aquaculture, Fisheries Management, Fish Nutrition, Animal Biochemistry, Research Methodology and other related courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
